ROLE: Dr. James Norcom
LOCATION: Charlotte, NC / Regional (local hires preferred)
SHOOT: 1 day (concept shoot)
PAY: Paid (rate negotiable for concept)
UNION STATUS: Non-Union
ROLE DESCRIPTION – DR. JAMES NORCOM
Male, White, Age 40–60 (45–55 preferred)
Dr. James Norcom is an educated, respected Southern physician and slaveholder. He is calm, articulate, and composed — a man whose power lies not in violence but in entitlement, control, and quiet authority.
This is not a caricature villain. The performance must feel grounded, restrained, and chillingly believable. The character rarely raises his voice; his menace comes from certainty and social power.
We are seeking an actor with:
- Strong command of dialogue and subtext
- The ability to convey dominance through stillness and tone
- Theater or classical training a plus
- Southern accent welcome but not required
- Comfort portraying morally complex historical material
This role requires emotional intelligence and restraint rather than overt aggression.
PROJECT NOTES
- This is a short proof-of-concept for a feature film currently in development
- Intended audience includes faith-based and prestige film distributors
- Strong emphasis on performance, authenticity, and cinematic realism
