CASTING CALL FOR STUDENT SHORT FILMS – ATLANTA, GA

We’re assisting a group of talented students from a summer intensive film program with casting for their upcoming 10-minute short films. This is a wonderful opportunity for Atlanta-based actors to support emerging filmmakers and gain on-camera experience.

Please note: These character breakdowns were created by the students themselves as part of their creative process. They are very excited to work with amazing local talent to help bring their stories to life and achieve their dreams in this summer program.

Location: Atlanta, GA

Rate: Non-paid (Meals provided + Credited in the film)

In-Person Chemistry Read: Tuesday, July 8, 2025

Filming Window: July 14–July 18, 2025 (shoot dates will vary based on student schedules – actors should have open availability during this period)

Eligibility: Must be 18+ to submit

This is a non-union project seeking local talent willing to volunteer their time and creativity. If you cannot or prefer not to participate, that is completely understandable. However, we wanted to at least give these students a boost in their process by sharing this opportunity through us here at CAB Castings.

PROJECT 1:

“ASHLEY” (Lead)

Female | 16-18 (Actors 18-22 to play younger) | African American

Petite (approx. 5’6), brown-skinned with natural 3c/4a black coils. Optimistic, curious, and loud-spirited (never mean-spirited).

Wardrobe vibe: Trendy – jeans, gold jewelry, statement sneakers.

“CORI” (Lead)

Female | 16-18 (Actors 18-22 to play younger) | African American

Petite (approx. 5’4), light-skinned with loose 3b curls. Reserved and shy, struggles to speak up even when something feels wrong.

Wardrobe vibe: Casual athleisure – sneakers, no jewelry.

“JOY” (Lead)

Female | 16-18 (Actors 18-22 to play younger) | African American

Average height (approx. 5’7), dark-skinned with 4c curls (silk-pressed in story). Funny and smart but hides deep sadness behind her bubbly personality.

Wardrobe vibe: Chic – skirts, silver jewelry, always overdressed.

“RASHAD”

Male | 19-23 (to play 20) | African American

Tall, dark-skinned with dreads or similar hairstyle. Insecure and resentful, acts “real” but is trifling.

Wardrobe vibe: Sweatpants, compression shirts, silver chain.

“KEITH”

Male | 19-23 (to play 20) | African American

Tall, brown-skinned with a taper fade. Friendly, avoids conflict, unaware of his friends’ ignorance.

Wardrobe vibe: Cargo pants, graphic tees, durag or fitted cap.

“LORETTA”

Female | Mid-40s | African American

Mid-sized with a straight black wig or headscarves. Caring but stern, believes her way is best.

Wardrobe vibe: Bold jewelry, casual with flair.

PROJECT 2 :

“LENA WALKER” (Protagonist)

Female | Early 20s | African American

Slim to average build, sharp yet youthful energy. Bright-eyed and eager to help others, with a professional exterior that hides her fresh enthusiasm.

“JANICE”

Female | 45-55 | African American

Full-figured or sturdy frame, soft face. Cheerful but unsettling—her friendliness feels robotic and slightly off, with delayed reactions suggesting a deeper issue.

“OMINOUS VOICE” (Voiceover)

Any Gender | 30+ | Open Ethnicity

Smooth, clear, and disturbingly calm. Cold, clinical detachment as though this is routine and meaningless to them.

“SUBJECT 11”

Female | Mid-20s | African American

Soft-spoken and introspective. Appears uneasy, like someone on the verge of realizing something unsettling about her reality.
