Two lead roles in NC indie sci-fi short film
Casting for a two lead roles- SATCHEL (age 20s or 30s, African American woman) & ABHAY (age 20s or 30s, Indian/Asian American male,) in an indie sci-fi dystopian short film shot in the greater Raleigh, NC area.
SATCHEL, a 20s African American woman, was once in a generation rising pitching talent on the way to helping shatter racial and gender barriers in professional baseball. A particular expert at finesse pitching and mental focus, Satchel never had the most raw power but was known to pitch an intellectual game rather than blowing people away (like her hero, Greg Maddux).
Subsequently, her rigorous discipline and mental toughness helped her survive when the rule of law disappeared. Satchel realized that on her own, her chances of survival were slim, and ultimately fell in with a group of these marauders, only to find herself having to make terrible choice after terrible choice until she could no longer accept them, and broke her oath to the group and fled.
ABHAY — A trained phlebotomist, Abhay has always been more than happy to let his younger, more charismatic brother Nitesh take the spotlight and follow by example. A somewhat nervous, bookish type, Abhay has relied on his brother for leadership during their survival, repeatedly escaping marauders and outlaws. Once they found safety with a community of civil, decent people, Abhay helps Nitesh provide medical supplies for refugees at various camps.
