The role: “Mother” – a supporting role – but a pivotal one. This role will require a strong performance from an actor with great range.
The film, THE AWAKENING OF LILITH, concerns a young woman named Lilith, who finds herself in the midst of a dark mystery after the unexplained disappearance of her fiancé. Lilith has a strained relationship with her mother, who was largely absent when Lilith was a child. Her mother is a cold, manipulative woman, but throughout the course of the scene that she and Lilith have together, we see that Mother has her own inner struggles as well. As the film goes on, Lilith’s sanity begins to unravel, as the line between what is real and imagined becomes blurred.
Inspired by the films of Ingmar Bergman and David Lynch, with maybe a dash of Terrence Malick, THE AWAKENING OF LILITH is based off of my short film, FUGUE, which has had a successful run in the festival circuit and has received wonderful feedback from critics and audiences alike. I look forward to exploring this world in more depth, and I feel that the themes of loss and grief – and finally, hope – will resonate with whoever views the film.
