The Historic Flatiron Building in downtown Asheville is proud to announce a series of interactive guided tours of Asheville’s fascinating past as seen through the lens of a priceless architectural treasure with nearly a century of stories to tell. This is your chance to become a part of an unprecedented fusion of education, performance and community involvement with unique opportunities for growth.
Asheville’s tourism industry will only continue to blossom and our series of guided tours will allow you to play a part in the development of this incredible city’s burgeoning identity in the twenty-first century.
As entertainment pioneers, we’re pushing the boundaries of interactive performance by incorporating both scripted scenes and improvised content to create an immersive experience that brings the audience face-to-face with some of Asheville’s most famous—and infamous— historical figures. There are no boundaries to the stage in these captivating adventures through time; throughout the tours, the performers will interact with the public without breaking character, building an innovative realism that blurs the fourth wall in ground-breaking ways.
All levels of acting experience are welcome.
Headshots/resumes/portfolios are accepted but not necessary. Those with a passion for history, education or community involvement are strongly encouraged to apply.
REQUIREMENTS:
At least 21 years old
Authorized to work in the United States
Local to the Asheville area and willing to commit at least six months
Our Casting Team gives preference to:
Quick-witted personalities with improvisational experience/talent Flexible, adaptable individuals with “the show must go on”

Our team of historical experts has selected some of this area’s most interesting and influential figures to form a cast that represents Asheville at the turn of the last century, bringing to life the enthralling beginnings of this town during the Roaring Twenties. As a part of our effort to create a truly mesmerizing sense of traveling to the past, we urge applicants to further research the figures they feel qualified to portray.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to arrive at the open call as “in character” as possible; our Casting Team invites all applicants to audition in appropriate costumes, props, and accents. Auditioning for more than one figure is also encouraged and preference will be given to applicants who are able to accurately portray more than one historical figure.
